Apple has introduced a series of exciting updates with its upcoming iOS 26 operating system, showcased at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). This new software promises a revamped user experience through its unique “Liquid Glass” design, which emphasizes content focus and enhances navigation across various apps. The “Liquid Glass” design will usher in a fresh visual style for the iPhone’s interface, bringing dynamic changes as users scroll.
For example, the tab bar in Apple Music, News, and Podcasts will adjust in size depending on the user’s actions, while the Camera app layout is being simplified to help users capture moments with ease. Safari will also maximize screen usage, enabling users to view more content without sacrificing accessibility to important functions like refreshing or searching. One of the notable updates includes a new time display on the Lock Screen, which will change size based on the selected photo.
Additionally, improvements to the Phone app will consolidate Favorites, Recents, and Voicemails into one convenient view. A new “Hold Assist” feature will notify users when they are connected to a live agent after being placed on hold. The Messages app is set for enhancements as well, including the ability to manage communications from unknown senders by directing such messages to a separate folder.
Users will also gain the ability to create polls and personalize conversation backgrounds. With iOS 26, Apple is also integrating advanced “Apple Intelligence” features, allowing users to access live translations during calls and FaceTime, enabling smoother communication across language barriers. Furthermore, iPhone users can explore on-screen content with AI assistance, facilitating easier searches and inquiries about products and images.
Apple continues to innovate, aiming to make the user experience more expressive and interconnected, as demonstrated in their FY 2025 financial performance, which boasts substantial revenue. The company also plans to unveil updates across other devices, including iPads and Macs, expanding the reach of its new operating systems.
